Vehicle pollution not only hurts people’s health, but it also emits greenhouse gasses, which contribute to climate change. When gasoline and diesel fuel are burned, hazardous byproducts such as nitrogen dioxide, carbon monoxide, hydrocarbons, benzene, and formaldehyde are produced.

Vehicles also release carbon dioxide, the most prevalent greenhouse gas. Lowering vehicle use throughout the world has the potential to reduce carbon emissions by vast quantities. A few ways to do so are through carpooling or ride-sharing, taking public transportation, cycling, or walking.
